From the splendors of Byzantine icons to the spectacular Buddhist temples,
over the centuries mosaic gold has been regarded as the mosaic par excellence
and Orsoni Mosaic Gold has long been considered by many to be the finest mosaic gold
produced. The 24kt gold leaf, mounted on glass, is covered by a very thin
hand-blown piece of crystal and fused into one solid, durable piece of glass in
the furnace. The gold appears as if it is on the surface of each tessera,
reflecting the purity of gold when touched by the light.
At MosaicSmalti.com, we offer 20 shades of 24kt mosaic gold, handcrafted by
Orsoni, ranging from the brightest white gold, through all the shades of yellow
gold and into the deeper copper shades. The size offered here is approximately 1
x 1 cm. The 2x 2cm size and 10x10cm gold plates are readily available by special
order.
